ensures that the text adheres to a style guide and identifies content and logical inconsistencies​​​​. It makes the text clear while maintaining the author's intent, while correcting grammatical, stylistic, and mistakes. It also catches bad translations.
Proofreading . . .
cleans up spelling, grammar, punctuation mistakes and style inconsistencies that may have been overlooked in the editing process
Post-editing . . .
is a different process that handles a lot of the same problems as other editing. The difference is that post-editing occurs after an automated process. It fixes mistakes in machine translations and output form Large Language Models such as ChatGPT, Bard, or Microsoft Copilot.
I specialize in texts that have been translated from German into English. I’ve also worked on publications that are translated from other languages, and English written by non-native speakers. And I've worked with English speakers to improve their writing.
